CORRECTION! NOTE THE TIME CHANGE BELOW!
In keeping with the spirit of our Trash
Tip of the Week campaign, here’s the next tip. Thanks for all your
help!
City of Laredo
Public Announcement Service Campaign: “Let’s Talk Trash!”
For Week of August 30, 2004
Trash Tip of the Week:
Get rid of mosquito breeding
grounds and unsightly mess in your neighborhoods and area creeks and recycle
those old tires. Every Saturday, you can dispose up to four passenger
tires to the City of Laredo Landfill for free; after four, there is a $2.00 charge per
tire.
In fact, this Saturday August
28, 2004, you can take tires to
the Cash for Tires Mosquito Abatement & Recycling Program at the Recycling Drop-Off Center
located at Clark Boulevard and McPherson
Avenue from
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
and get $0.50 for each tire you recycle.
Tractor truck tires will be charged $6.00 per tire at the landfill.
Passenger tires are shredded and buried in the landfill. It is against
state regulations to bury a tire whole in the landfill because they float
their way up, posing potential environmental hazards and other dangers.
The City of Laredo Solid Waste department contracts a company to haul away tractor
truck tires and properly disposes of them.
