Enact legislation that would allow a Municipal Court to charge a $25.00 administrative fee for dismissal of cases against defendants who are charged with the offense of failure to maintain liability insurance and who appear in court, in person or by mail, and provide to the court a valid liability insurance policy.

Municipal Courts process a large number of cases for failure to maintain insurance, and considerable expense and time is involved in the inputting of data for the offense and verification of insurance for dismissal of the charge. The fee would help cities with personnel related expenses to offset the large amount of data entry required for these cases.
