Enact legislation that amends Section 41.0052 “Changing General Election Date” of the Texas Election Code by extending the allowable date for governing bodies of political subdivisions to change the general election date. The present allowable date is December 31, 2005 and we need it to be extended to December 31, 2008.

41.005. Changing General Election Date

(a) The governing body of a political subdivision other than a county may, not later than December 31, 2005, change the date on which it holds its general election for officers to another authorized uniform election date.
